⚠️ Development / Testing Software Only

This application is provided strictly for development and testing purposes. It is not a production service. Do not use it for any real or sensitive communications.

1. Overview

This Privacy Policy describes how this experimental Web3 Chat application ("the App") handles information in the context of its purely technical, non-commercial operation. The App is a development and testing tool and is not intended to be used as a consumer-facing service.

2. Data We Do Not Collect

By design, the App does not:

  • Store chat messages on any server.
  • Collect personally identifiable information (PII).
  • Profile users or track behaviour for advertising purposes.
  • Use cookies for tracking or advertising purposes.
  • Sell, rent, or share any data with third parties.

3. Transient Technical Data

The signaling server temporarily holds in-memory session data (such as socket connection IDs and wallet addresses) solely to facilitate WebRTC peer-to-peer connection establishment. This data is:

  • Never written to disk or a database.
  • Automatically discarded when a session ends or the server restarts.
  • Not accessible to any third party.

4. Limited Usage Analytics

To understand basic usage of the App (for development purposes only), the signaling server records a small set of aggregate, privacy-safe metrics when a wallet connects or completes verification:

  • Wallet hash — a one-way HMAC-SHA256 hash of your wallet address using a server-side secret salt. The original address cannot be recovered from this hash.
  • isVerified — whether the wallet completed signature verification.
  • lastConnection — timestamp of the most recent WebSocket connection.
  • connectionCount — total number of connections observed for this hash.

This data is stored in a local JSON file on the signaling server. It is not shared with any third party, not used for advertising, and contains no data that can be linked back to your real-world identity.

5. Wallet Addresses

If you connect a Web3 wallet, your public wallet address is used as a chat identifier and may be visible to other connected users in the same session. Public blockchain addresses are, by nature, publicly available information. The App does not have access to your private keys or funds at any time.

6. Third-Party Services

The App may use third-party Web3 wallet providers (e.g. MetaMask, WalletConnect). Your interactions with those providers are governed by their own privacy policies. The App has no control over and accepts no responsibility for third-party data practices.

7. No Warranties

This App is provided "as is" for development and testing only. No guarantees are made regarding the confidentiality, integrity, or availability of any data transmitted through the App. Use at your own risk.

8. Changes to This Policy

This policy may be updated at any time without notice, as the App is under active development. Continued use of the App constitutes acceptance of any revised policy.

9. Contact

This is a private development project with no formal support channel.
